ABBA en de pers

Al sinds de lancering van de single ‘Fernando’ in 1976 ben ik hartstochtelijk ABBA-fan. Die bewondering kwam voort uit mijn gevoel, pas vele jaren later kon ik horen en uitleggen wat er zo geniaal was aan hun muziek. Aanvankelijk vond ik het alleen maar “mooi”. De communis opinio dat ABBA “simpel” was, kon ik toen nog niet weerleggen. In hun hoogtijdagen werd ABBA niet cool gevonden, het werd afgedaan als “commerciële popmuziek”, alsof het veel te volks was om goed te kunnen zijn.
